Launch

 

High Peak Volunteering’s Launch at Losehill Hall on Friday 3^rd October was a great success, with 49 delegates attending.  The venue was excellent, as was the feedback received from participants. The event allowed for lots of networking time and provided bite size workshops to give people a taste of volunteering, thus encouraging them to use the services of Volunteer Centres and High Peak Volunteering in the future. This event also combined the launch of the High Peak Managers’ forum. 

 

The feedback received from the launch will help us to target local organisations in a more effective way. We will use this information to plan and shape future marketing and training strategies.

 

Hope Valley Base and Outreach 

 

We now have desk space at Losehill Hall available to us as and when we need it, to give us a base in the Hope Valley.  We are now in a position where we can more easily engage with local people in the Hope Valley and better able to develop important links with local communities. We will now focus on getting local people together and offer future training which would include topics around specific issues and gaps in knowledge as identified by local groups at the Launch.

 

Volunteer Manager Forums

 

The first forum was held on December 1^st, at Castleton Village Hall and was an evening forum to help attract community group leaders who would otherwise be working in the daytime.

 

The forum attracted 9 people in total and was a good mixture of people, some of whom knew each other and some who didn’t. This was beneficial for the attendees in terms of networking and sharing information. 

 

Training

 

Following on from the successful 'Introduction to Volunteer Management' Training, High Peak Volunteering will be running further training courses during 2009. The first of these courses will be Attracting and Recruiting Volunteers.

The course is aimed at those organisations and departments within the Voluntary, Community and Statutory sectors and will provide an overview of getting your message across to potential volunteers and making your opportunity stand out amongst the other ones on offer.
