A new scheme has been created for older people in Buxton. It is run by Buxton Volunteer Centre with the aim of providing social opportunities for older people. Called the Out & About Club it enables people aged 60+ to attend social events such as going out for lunch on a Tuesday on a weekly basis, with members able to attend as little or often as suits them.
A wheelchair accessible vehicle picks up members from their door and takes them to various venues within a 10 mile radius of the town at an affordable price. As well as visiting various country pubs around Buxton for lunch the club aims to facilitate transport for other outings. This may include things such as trips to the opera house depending on what members want to do.
The cost of the meal is kept under £10 for two courses and trips to social venues costs vary. This is a great chance to get out, socialise and meet new people. If you are interested in coming along then please contact Buxton Volunteer Centre on 01298-23970.
