Meet the Team

Chief Executive Officer



Sue Howard

Sue implements work programmes, policies and decisions of the Management Committee. She is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Volunteer Centre in Buxton and its projects. Sue also promotes volunteering in Buxton and the High Peak in Derbyshire through the various committees and organisations with which she is associated.

Alistair Rogerson

Alistair supports the chief executive officer and has a remit to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the Volunteer Centre through the introduction of efficient business systems. Alistair also manages Cleaning Services and both the Handyvan and Readycall services.

The co-ordinator is responsible for the recruitment of volunteers and for guiding people into opportunities with other organisations. They also provide information, training and support to other volunteering organisations.
Home Support Manager



Carole Gregory

Along with Jackie Redfern, Carole manages Buxton Home Support Services. She is responsible for the support, management and training of our care staff, producing care plans, carrying out risk assessments and conducting reviews. Overall she ensures that people in the community, in need of care and assistance, get the best service possible.
High Peak Development Worker

Jackie is part of the High Peak Volunteering team. She recruits and matches volunteers to opportunities and also provides information and support to volunteering organisations. She also co-manages the Buxton Home Support Services with Carole.
Transport Manager



Howard Gunn

Howard manages the Volunteer Transport Scheme as well as supporting the volunteer drivers and administration assistants. He promotes the market for the scheme and is responsible for driver training and all vehicle maintenance.
Befriending Co-ordinator



Rachael Lowery

Rachael co-ordinates the befriending service for the centre, matching volunteers to elderly, isolated people in Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith who don't have families living locally. She also looks after the Hospital to Home project and assists with Home Support.
Accounts Manager



Margaret Wood

Margaret manages all our accounts, ensuring all financial monitoring reports are complete for funding as well as managing our day-to-day finances.
Accounts Assistant



Andrew Ellis

Andrew supports Margaret in the accounts department and provides administration support to the Children's Service, High Peak Volunteering and Marketing.
Readycall Co-ordinator



Alan Challis
readycall@buxtonvc.org.uk

Alan co-ordinates work for the Readycall service. He specialises in basic plumbing, grab rails, hand rails and home maintenance. Alan also provides quotes for statutory partners such as Adult Care and HPCH.
Handyvan Operator



Pete Child

Pete carries out all the Handyvan work in the High Peak area. He fits fire and security equipment and gives advice to help people remain safe and secure in their own homes.
Development Worker



Claire Mitchell

Claire and Jackie are the development workers for a new project in partnership with Volunteer Centre Buxton. They are working with organisations in the High Peak and Hope Valley areas to ensure they have volunteer support.
Administrative Co-ordinator



Louise Wraight

Louise supports the High Peak Volunteering project, the development workers and the central team.
Children's Service Co-ordinator



Michelle Markham

Michelle manages our service for children and young people with additional needs. She is responsible for the support, management and training of the Children's Service workers.
Aiming High Co-ordinator



Kate Shenton

Kate co-ordinates a team of workers who support children and young people with additional needs, allowing them to access mainstream activities similar to their peers.
Transport Administrator



Lizzie Walton
transport-assistant@buxtonvc.org.uk

Lizzie is the main link between the people we transport and the volunteer drivers. She books the drivers to take people to their appointment and also supports the drivers with any problems they may have.
Handyvan Operator

Brian carries out all the Handyvan work in the Derbyshire Dales. He fits fire and security equipment and gives advice to people to help them stay safe in their homes.
Readycall and Handyvan Support



Anne Marchington

Anne supports and carries out work for the Readycall and Handyvan services. She liaises with customers, sends out invoices and manages the associated databases.
Children's Service Co-ordinator



Helen Tinkler

Helen assists Michelle, providing support to children and young people with additional needs.
